Exciting News: Direct AVE Trains Between Alicante and Malaga Starting June 1st
Renfe is introducing two new AVE trains for direct and daily travel between Alicante and Malaga, starting June 1, 2024. This new service will make travel between these cities more convenient and faster, reducing travel time significantly compared to previous options that often required transfers via Madrid.
Air Travel: Alicante and Valencia Airports
Costa Blanca North already benefits from the proximity of two major international airports: Alicante-Elche Airport and Valencia Airport. Alicante-Elche Airport is one of Spain's busiest airports, handling millions of passengers annually. It offers numerous international and domestic flights, making it a convenient gateway to the region. Valencia Airport serves as another crucial entry point. This airport offers a wide range of flight options, connecting Costa Blanca North to major European cities and beyond. With these two airports, travellers have ample choices for reaching the region from various parts of the world.
Highway Access: The AP-7
The AP-7, also known as the Autopista del Mediterráneo, is a major highway running along the eastern coast of Spain, providing excellent connectivity to the Costa Blanca North region. This toll road stretches from the French border to the southern coast of Spain, passing through key cities including Valencia and Alicante.
The AP-7 ensures a smooth and direct route for travellers driving to Costa Blanca North, whether coming from other parts of Spain or neighbouring countries. Its well-maintained infrastructure and scenic coastal views make it a popular choice for road trips and intercity travel.
Rail Services: Fast and Efficient
One of the standout features of Costa Blanca North's accessibility is its efficient train services. Renfe, Spain's national railway company, operates high-speed trains (AVE) that connect major cities with impressive speed and comfort.
In addition to the new direct service between Alicante and Malaga, the non-stop AVE train from Valencia to Madrid is a prime example of this convenience. This high-speed service significantly reduces travel time between the two cities, making it an attractive option for both tourists and business travellers. The journey, which can take several hours by car, is completed in just over an hour and a half by train.
The Costa Blanca North region's accessibility is a testament to its well-developed transportation infrastructure. With two major international airports, the extensive AP-7 highway, and efficient high-speed train services, traveling to and within this region is both convenient and enjoyable. Whether arriving by air, road, or rail, visitors can look forward to a seamless journey to one of Spain's most beautiful and vibrant coastal areas.
